On the issue of how to reduce crime or solve the problem of criminal activity in our neighborhoods, I believe a two-prong approach is necessary. First is the increase in resources law enforcement and public safety personnel have to use. Better technology will enable the police to catch criminals and it will deter future crimes. Second, I believe if more job opportunities were made available to the youth and to those transitioning from jail that want to rehabilitate their lives, that crime would go down. People cannot be afraid of hard work to make a good living. I want to expand job training to residents that want to work and make our community productive. For those individuals that still seek to choose a life of crime, I will make sure that law enforcement has all the resources to convict to remove them from our community so that our families can be safe.
